Rick Moyer’s Story
Beginning his music career

I was around 11 years old when I began to play on the family piano, and eventually began playing my uncle’s guitar at 13. From there I got fascinated with electronic and orchestrated music. I played saxophone in our local high school marching band and then joined a rock band after high school, singing and playing the bass guitar. Upon discovering bands like Pink Floyd and Tomita, Kraftwerk, Allen Parsons Project, ELO and more, I was hooked on electronic music. I put together recording equipment, built my own studio and have been making music ever since. I finally decided instead of giving away my music that I would release it on a bigger platform and have now recorded three professional projects.

Expertise and qualifications

I now work making a living by scoring audio dramas, podcasts and audio books. I am also a voiceover artist and use electronic synthesizers to create many interesting sounds. I play guitar, piano, drums, harmonica, saxophone and the didgeridoo. I have a collection of music to watch the stars with, MW-Orbit a short story and electronic journey to discover life in the Milky Way and the soundtrack of the popular web series The Martians Are Here by Australian author Stefan Sawynok.

Fulfilment in creating music

It is my belief the music is hooked up to us deep inside. God made music as an expression of what we feel. It is a powerful force in the world today as it transcends cultures, languages and borders. Music in its own right is a language, a universal one. I love creating atmospheres where people can get lost into them. Music has the power to brighten our mood, help us focus and tell a story, all at the same time.

Link with Meditation

I began my spiritual path around 1985- I looked into many types of religion, so much so that I eventually studied to become a minister. I worked in that field for many, many years until I grew tired of the man made politics and corruption in the organized church. I finally came to peace with myself being a Spiritual person, not labelled by any given denomination or sect. I identify mostly with Christianity. During my time seeking God I spent many hours meditating and praying. I would often times sit at the piano or with the guitar and create beautiful music as I meditated. Eventually I began to record these songs. I feel God when I play, and love to just sit quietly with my music in my headphones as I order my heart and Spirit.
